I've been tagged!

April at www.aproka.blogspot.com tagged me with this so I am going to give it a shot!

I am suppose to list 5 weird things about myself and then "tag" 5 other people to do the same. And then post on their blog that they have been "tagged".....Ok clear on the rules? Let's begin! *G*

1. I can't watch one TV show at a time. I must have ADD when it comes to TV....I rarely watch commercials because I am flitting from one program to another...I blame the invention of the remote control!

2. I can't get through the day without making lists. Lists for things I need to do at work....at home....wherever! I have a short memory sometimes, but I think I just like the satisfaction of marking through a completed task

3. I have always wanted to take a hot air balloon ride...."that's not weird" you say..and you'd be right except that I am scared of heights!

4. I am also terrifed of bridges and parking garages! I don't know what it is but they creep me out! I am always afraid that they will come crashing down!

5. I have a very large family but no full blooded siblings. I have 4 -step brothers, 1- 1/2 brother and 1 -1/2 sister. And I've never met my biological father as far as I can remember.

OK, so I tag Lisa, Amy, Crystal,Darla and Sheri

You've been waiting all day for this post haven't you?

Go ahead admit it! You know you want to know what my surprise was don't you? *G*

Well as you know yesterday was my birthday (I'm not ashamed to tell you I am 36) It didn't start off that great....hubby was being....well let's just say he can be a ray of sunshine sometimes...and then sometimes.....GRRRR! Anyway, so I get to work and a few people call to tell my Happy Birthday....things are looking up....I get through work and head home to shower and get ready for the festivities! Usually I am the one who plans surprises and handles all the arrangements for just about everything any of us EVER do...(Must be that first born thing!) So I am VERY excited!

I am sort of hoping that they take me to a restaraunt and all my family and friends will be there to celebrate all things me....but that did not happen! *G* I am told that we are going to the restaraunt of my choosing and then I will be blindfolded and led to my final surprise. Sounds fun so far! I am also told we will be traveling to Charlotte....a good 45 mins. from my home....this gives me a clue as to where we are going but I don't say anything...they have worked very hard to keep this secret....

Ok so after a little searching we decide that we'll eat at Lonestar Steakhouse. Dinner was nice....my drink was VERY strong! and they sang to me! I just love that stuff! I know it's cheesy but again I like the attention! *L* #1 SIL gave me a CD and a cute card...MIL gave me a GC to Belk...and Stepmom paid for surprise....so it's turning into a fine evening!

Once we get into the parking lot the adventure begins...out comes the scarf and for the next 10 minutes all I can do is hope that they make it to the destination without my constant help as the backseat driver! *LOL* I am a terrible passenger! MUST DRIVE ALL THE TIME! Once we get into the parking lot I am helped out of the car and told to hold on to #1 SIL's hand....they lead me through parking lot....down 2 flights of stairs....and around several curves. All the while people must be looking at us like we are INSANE! The girls tell them it's a birthday gift and most played along.....one guy told me I would need lots of $1 bills where I was going....another lady said that they were just torturing me! *G* #1 SIL was trying to give me clues to make me think I was going ice-skating! Now I must tell you I am a big girl (Volumptous some might say! *L*) I told them that I didn't realize we were doing Hippos on Ice but I was game for anything! (I had decided that no matter what they might have come up with I was going to love it!) When they finally told me to take off the scarf I was so excited! I didn't know where I was but I was excited! *L* Finally I turned around and saw the Marquee...................

We were going to see the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes in their Christmas Spectacular! I was loving it! I love all things theatre and I have never seen the rockettes live so I knew this was going to be a hoot! We found our seats and settled in for a wonderful performance! The ladies were great and the program was cute! The finale was a live nativity with camels, peeing sheep and a donkey! What could be better than that I ask you? *LOL*

So now I have a whole year to wait to get spoiled again! Darn it! I could get used to being the center of attention! *LOL*

Merry Christmas Eve!!!

I just returned from dinner with my dad's side of the family. 4 of the 5 brothers were present and accounted for...along with their wives and children. Also present were stepmom's brother and his wife. 20 in all! Excited kids, excited grandparents.....what could be better? *G*

I love Christmas! I love being packed in a house surrounded by squealing kids and watching my dad light up as he looks around at his large family. He and I are more alike than I think even he knows!

I always try to find gifts for he and stepmom of things they have mentioned wanting recently....only Dad hasn't "wanted" anything. So this year my brother and I went in together and bought him something I knew he would find just too much fun....We bought him a talking deer! If you have ever been in Walmart....and who hasn't? *L* I am sure you have seen them in the hunting/fishing area. Anyway, this thing sings songs like "On the Road Again" "Suspicious Minds" and "Friends in Low Places" True Redneck comedy I'm telling you!! But the best feature in my mind and I knew it would be the thing that my dad would love.....it came with a remote control and microphone....which meant that dad could prank the rest of the family as they came in! We got there early and had him unwrap it so we could get it up on the wall before most of the family got there. He laughed as he opened it and stepmom told him that we bought him a deer since he couldn't seem to kill one himself! *L* He had a blast all night long! When someone new came in he would hide in another room and ask the kids questions or try to scare my brothers. He was in his element. I love making people smile like that! I must have gotten my weird sense of humor from him!

The kids were just about beside themselves and begged us to open presents before we ate. Stepmom told the kids to open theirs and the adults would wait until after we ate. Usually she give the adults something small to open and then she gives us money. She had already warned me I would not be getting money because she knows I like to unwrap presents and besides she "had bought me something really cool"! *L* Well how could I not be excited?!? I was in the kitchen fixing my plate when a niece came in caring presents to me and my SIL....we of course were expected to stop what we were doing and open them right there! Now I knew that all the "girls" were getting pajamas and I knew mine were probably Eeyore PJ's since I love all things Eeyore. I was right! We all got 5X7 pics of Dad & stepmom as well. I also got the cutest Eeyore shirt and one of the most thoughtful things.....my stepmom remembered me saying that I would love to have a copy of "Tapestry" by Carol King....she had looked for it for months with no luck.....it seems she couldn't remember who the singer was...but my dad did and so she had that in the box as well.....but the best thing of all was when she called me into the livingroom and told me to open one more....the box had my name and "Birthday" underneath...(My B-day is the 28th) Stepmom NEVER gives me my B-day gift early...she knows I like the gifts on my B-day if at all possible.....anyway, She says that since she has come up with something new for my B-day and since I didn't get money like everyone else I got a special present!! OH BOY!! She gets her camera ready before I can open it.....ooohhhh it must be good!! I tear open the paper.....get help opening the box and look inside at a trash bag! *G* And then I grabbed the bag.....I feel something soft and start squealing like a 6 yr old! My stepmom had bought me something so cool....so not like her.....so silly that I was speechless!

She had bought me this HUGE talking Eeyore!!!

He is quite possibly the coolest thing EVER! We had seen them when we were at Walmart a few weeks ago. I told her that when Sugarbritches, Stepmonster and I were there before I had seen it and almost jokingly told them that I wanted one! It was over $30 though and I thought that was sort of pricey for a stuffed animal. I proceeded to squeeze him a few times and let her hear him say things like "You're an awful good hugger" & "I sure could use a hug from you right now" I smiled and told her that she should tell SB to buy it for me......never thought I would actually get it! I LOVE CHRISTMAS! *LOL*

We stayed until after 8:30 but I had to get SB home....Bless him! He has been sick for a few days and he was feeling horrible! It didn't help that they have a cat and he is allergic to cats! He came home got in his PJ's and laughed as I curled up on the couch w/ Eeyore and watched Christmas Cartoons like a kid! He really shouldn't laugh....I was changing channels when I happened on "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (cartoon version) and he told me to stop! "This is a good one!" I hope we never grow up! *LOL*

May you all have child-like enthusiasm this Christmas! And may you all get things that are truly unexpected but exactly what you wanted!

Got this from another BLOG...hope you enjoy!

New Rule: Stop giving me that pop-up ad for Classmates.com! There's a reason you don't talk to people for 25 years. Because you don't particularly like them! Besides, I already know what the captain of the football team is doing these days: mowing my lawn.

New Rule: Don't eat anything that's served to you out a window unless you're a seagull. People are acting all shocked that a human finger was found in a bowl of Wendy's chili. Hey, it cost less than a dollar. What did you expect it to contain? Trout? Luckily, it was only a finger! If it was a whole hand, Congress would have voted to keep it alive.

New Rule: Ladies, leave your eyebrows alone. Here's how much men care about your eyebrows: do you have two of them? Okay, we're done.

New Rule: There's no such thing as flavored water. There's a whole aisle of this crap at the supermarket: water, but without that watery taste. Sorry, but flavored water is called a soft drink. You want flavored water? Pour some bourbon over ice and let it melt. There's your flavored water.

New Rule: Stop messing with old people. Target is introducing a redesigned pill bottle that's square, with a bigger label. And the top is now the bottom. And by the time grandpa figures out how to open it, his ass will be in the morgue. Congratulations, Target, you just solved the Social Security crisis.

New Rule: The more complicated the Starbucks order, the bigger the a$$hole. If you walk into a Starbucks and order a "decaf grande half-soy, half-low fat, iced vanilla, double-shot, ginger bread cappuccino, extra dry, light ice, with one Sweet-n'-Low and one NutraSweet," ooh, you're a huge a$$hole.

New Rule: I'm not the cashier! By the time I look up from sliding my card, entering my PIN number, pressing "Enter," verifying the amount, deciding, no, I don't want cash back, and pressing "Enter" again, the kid who is supposed to be ringing me up is standing there eating my Almond Joy. Paper, plastic? I don't have time for that. I've just been called to do a cleanup on Aisle Nine!

New Rule: Just because your tattoo has Chinese characters in it doesn't make you spiritual. It's right above the crack of your a$$ and it translates to "beef with broccoli." The last time you did anything spiritual, you were praying to God you weren't pregnant. You're not spiritual. You're just high.

New Rule: Competitive eating isn't a sport. It's one of the seven deadly sins. ESPN recently televised the US Open of Competitive Eating, because watching those athletes at the poker table was just too damned exciting. What's next, competitive farting? Oh wait. They're already doing that. It's called "The Howard Stern Show."

New Rule: I don't need a bigger mega M&M. If I'm extra hungry for M&Ms, I'll go nuts and eat two.

New Rule: If you're going to insist on making movies based on crappy, old television shows, then you have to give everyone in the Cineplex a remote so we can see what's playing on the other screens. Let's remember the reason something was a television show in the first place is the idea wasn't good enough to be a movie.

New Rule: No more gift registries. You know, it used to be just for weddings. Now it's for babies and new homes and graduations from rehab. Picking out the stuff you want and having other people buy it for you isn't gift giving, it's the upscale version of looting.

New Rule: When I ask how old your toddler is, I don't need to know in months. "27 Months." "He's two," will do just fine. He's not a cheese. And I didn't care in the first place.

S is for......

SICK - which is what I have been off and on all week! I have had an annoying sore throat and headache. You know the kind....just enough to aggravate you but not enough to make you stay home and actually rest and get well!

STRESS - last weekend was very stressful for me. I am not sure I have fully recovered! My dad and brother went hunting last weekend with my uncles and a few friends. Well Saturday evening around 7pm I get a call..

Stepmom- "You may want to meet SIL and I at her house....we are going to the hospital"...pause....
Me: "Why...who has had to go to the hospital"
Stepmom - "Your brother fell out of a tree and you know your dad... when he went to help I guess he was nervous and he flipped the 4-wheeler over on him"
Me: "I'm on my way!"

Now I should say that I took this to mean that my brother had fallen out of his tree stand and that my dad in a mad rush to help his son accidently ran over him....or flipped the 4-wheeler on top of him! And this is what I told my mother as I am racing down the road to SIL's house. I also call stepmonster and ask her to cut her date short and come home so she can field any calls that come to the house. (This will be another S shortly!) I then call my other SIL and ask her to pray for their safety and my dad's mental health because I know dad would be freaking out if he hurt my brother.... even if it was an accident!

OK so we rush to hospital in Wilkes County (I am still not sure how we found it!) and on our way Stepmom tells me the story again....Brother was climbing "home-made" ladder to get to deer stand and fell off top rung....landed on his neck and shoulder.....Dad did race over to him but did not run over him....once brother was in ambulance Dad tried to turn his 4-wheeler around and the throttle got stuck causing him to run up a bank and flip the 4-wheeler on himself! Thankfully ambulance hadn't left yet and they helped uncles get Dad up and to the hospital.

Another thing I should tell you, is that on that side of the family we don't cut our finger without everyone in the family rushing to our aid. Which is a good thing in a way...but I am sure annoys hospital personnel to see 50 family members sitting in a waiting room.....OK maybe not 50 but I know there were at least 10 there and more we had to tell to stay home. Anyway, once I get to the hospital and see that Dad is in a cast (broken wrist) and has a nasty place on his leg (His gun was in his POCKET!!!) I go check on Brother. He is waiting on further X-rays but at that point we know he has cracked his T-4 vertebrae and has not broken his shoulder! 2 hours later they X-ray his foot because it had started to swell and he had fractured that as well! Fortunately there was no damage to his neck, brain or other vital organs and although they will both be sore for 6-8 weeks the Dr's think they will be fine! THANK GOD!

SELFISH - this another "S" I had to deal with.....well that I consistantly deal with concerning stepmonster. Remember earlier when I asked her to cut her date short and come home to field calls....well that was close to 7pm....at 9:30pm I call home to give her an update. NO ANSWER at home....I call her cell phone....

ME: "Hey, where are you?"
Stepmonster: "Not quite home"
ME: ??????????????? "Didn't I ask you to go home early? Why aren't you home?"
Stepmonster: "Where is your car? I thought you were going to hospital with stepmom?"
OK how did she know my car wasn't home unless she was there? OH because her SORRY SELF WAS NEXT DOOR WITH THE NEIGHBOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ME: so upset I can hardly speak..."BYE"

Does she ask how anyone is? NOPE!! Does she care? DOUBT IT!!

I know that part of the reason I was so upset with her had to do with the stress of the evening but how could she NOT just come home during a family emergency? I have hardly talked to her and I told her dad he was going to have to do something...anything with her! Not sure when he's going to do it but I just can't even look at her the same anymore. I mean I have known that she doesn't seem to care about anyone but herself(well that's not true....she does have her head up the neighbor's A$$ quite a bit so I guess she does care about him!) but she had just been giving us more and more attitude, not being involved with the family at all, just a whole list of things that are leading up to a major blow-up. I have jokingly said that I can't wait for her to move out for awhile, but now I am very serious! Call me a bad parent....call me selfish....I just don't know what else to do.

Dashing All the Weigh

Cute play on words huh? *L* The Y is offering a 6 week free membership to anyone who is interested in losing weight over the holidays. I signed up Sat. Now, I am already a member but if I can maintain or lose weight over the next 6 weeks then I could win some "Fabulous Prizes!" So I can't believe I am saying this but.....

.... after church today I went to lunch with my family and then....are you ready for this?......I VOLUNTARILY went to the Y and worked out for an HOUR! I know I was shocked myself!

I have been working on the little plan my trainer set up and as of Friday I had lost 6 lbs. No great amount I know but the fact that I am still going to the gym is a great accomplishment! *LOL* Just to give you an idea of my routine of torture...let me tell you what I did today.

First....30 minutes on treadmill at 2.8 mph...again not lightening speed but I am getting there!

Then it's grab the old clipboard and chart and hit the weights...this is actually my favorite part of working out...I can only get through the boring walk by reminded myself of what I "get" to do afterwards...

"Back Press" (not all descriptions will have their "technical" names) 3 reps of 20 at 125lbs
Lat Roll - 3 reps of 15 at 25lbs
Tricep Press - 3 reps of 20 at 30lbs
Vertical Bench Press - 3 reps of 10 at 35lbs
Abdominal - 3 reps of 20 at 75lbs
Torso Rotary - 3 reps of 20 at 30lbs
Shoulder Press - 3 reps of 10 at 25lbs
Arm Curls - OK don't laugh but for some reason I can only do the bar (10lbs)...I do 3 reps of 10 on this one

I have slowly added weight and reps to all of these except that darn Arm Curl! I just can't seem to do any better on that one! I think I may have Carpel Tunnel Syndrome....yeah that's it....it couldn't be that I am a weakling or anything....must be CPS! *G*

After that work out I came home took a hot shower and crashed! I know alot of people say they have tons of energy after working out...not me....I just want to jump in a HOT shower and relax the rest of the day! *LOL*

Ya'll stay tuned to see how long I can keep this up! And if I win a "Fabulous Prize" Ya'll will be the first to know!

Since I am trying to get into the Holiday Spirit around here.....My T3 today is:

My Top Ten Favorite Christmas Cartoons/Movies:

10 - Frosty the Snowman
9 - Nester the Long-Eared Donkey
8 - Santa Clause is Coming to Town
7 - A Christmas Carol (the B&W version)
6 - Scrooged
5 - Miracle on 34th Street
4 - Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer
3 - National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
2 - Opus & Bill....A Wish for Wings that Work

And the number one GREATEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE OF ALL TIME IS.......

Say it with me now........................................................................

1 - A Christmas Story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could watch that movie about a 100 times a year! And I usually do! *LOL* Last year someone bought me the Anniversary DVD and I LOVE it! I need to watch that tonight.......... after the Amazing Race of course!

So I am passing this along....what are your top ten Christmas movies? You may list one I had forgotten about and I need to re-work my list....of course my #1 will never change but maybe I could lose Frosty or something....*G*

OOPPSSSS

Ok so a few of you do read the blog and would make comments if I had alllowed it! *L* Seems that in my effort to stop weird SPAM messages I accidently took away everyone's ability to post. Hopefully I have that fixed. Ya'll have a posting party and see if it works! *LOL*

Where have I been? you ask.....

Well none of you have really asked....none of you post comments! Shame on you! My feelings are hurt! Well since you have properly been chastized, I guess I'll clue you in....

In Sept. my brother had Gastric Bypass....He was over 400lbs and although "healthy" he wanted to do something before he got real health problems. Anyway, since his surgery he has lost an incredible 87 lbs.! I think that is awesome! Well I REALLY wanted to have the surgery as well and after talking to SugarBritches (and everyone else I know) I called the Weightloss Clinic to see how I needed to proceed. I was told to contact my Ins. Co. to see if they would cover the surgery (95% of ins. companies do)....well not ours! *G* Actually the Ins. Co. does but SB's company has "excluded" any Weight Loss Surgery. *SIGH* So while I wait for the company to find out if they can make an exception SB talked me into joining the YMCA.....actually he wanted to join and I thought I had better try to do something while I wait!

So for the first week I went to the Y and walked on the treadmill.....it was all I thought I could do....then SB told me to get a trainer.....I didn't want a trainer.....if I had a trainer then I would have someone to watch over me to make sure I exercised! Well I made an appt. with the Drill Seargent/trainer and after about a 30 minute conversation we worked out a little exercise plan of walking and weight training. I have gone 5 days a week for the last 3 weeks! Go ahead....you can applaud now! *LOL* I really like it and look forward to going even if it is at the buttcrack of dawn! I go before work most days and spend about 45 mins sweating my bootie off. I have lost 4.5lbs!! No where near what I need to do but better than if I had done nothing! So if you see someone on the treadmill who looks like she would rather be ANYWHERE else than there say howdy! I would love the company! *LOL*

Sad Day at the Bay.....

My favorite scrapbook store owner closed her doors today! But not before I spent too much money! *L* I'll miss going down to see Jennifer but thankfully we both have Yahoo IM so we will still be able to keep in touch! My other friend Amy came down as well and brought her too cute son Josh! The manners that kid has! He said Thank you about 100 times while he was there! *L*
I guess tonight Sugar Britches and I will go out to dinner with a few friends and just chill out the rest of the weekend. I am purposely trying to keep un-busy this weekend because I already have 2 commitments next week and then 1 the next week and then of course comes Thanksgiving and before you know it Christmas will be here!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of Christmas.......I have finally started my shopping! Usually by this time I am at least 1/2 way through! So far I have only gotten a few things for Stepmonster and SB....I also have all the parents taken care. They are all getting a 5X7 of us and a GC to their favorite restaurant. Most of my nieces and nephews want GC to the Mall or Movie Passes so shopping shouldn't be too hard this year. I will still go out the day after Thanksgiving....just cause I like it! *L* I know some of you think I'm nuts but I just love the rush!!
Well better get busy if I am going to get everything put away before SB gets home....no need to flaunt the evidence of my shopping trip *G*

Sing it with me now.....

we like to party all the time...party all the time!...

Last night was a blast! There were 5 families from the neighborhood who got together along with several of our friends and family. I am guessing....around 30 adults plus children.
We all met at Neighbor #1's house and set up tables and all manner of spooky decorations. Everyone brought candy and finger foods. We brought our Fire Pit down which turned out to be a great idea... (Thank you very much!)...we were all a little chilly by about 7pm. There were not as many kids this year but those who came by sure got a show!
Neighbor #2 dressed as a 9' Clown! He had these cool platform things from work (he hangs sheetrock) that he walked around on all night. His wife had sown flannel sheets together to make his pants. He was great! The kids loved him! They didn't love all the scary adults/teens who played dead in the yard until someone came past. Most kids just laughed it off but we had a few who wouldn't come get candy! Bless their little hearts!
_________________________________________________

I know I have said this to some of you before...and I am sticking by this for sure now.....I really think some of my neighbors are SWINGERS and not the dancing kind either! *L*

..... a conversation overheard at the fire pit.

Neighbor #1's wife: OOOHHH...you scared me

Neighbor #3(man): Just wanted to feel what was under the costume..wife (name left out to protect innocent) went home to change...not in a good way either....guess you'll have to help me and the one-eyed monster out tonight!

Neighbor #1's wife: giggle.....really?

At this point...I slowly walk away.....I don't need to hear the rest of the conversation.....I haven't told Sugarbritches about this conversation yet but I did tell Stepmom and she TOTALLY agrees with me! *LOL* You just don't have that kind of conversation with your neighbor's wife unless something is going on between you!

Well I need to box up the Halloween decorations and put them away until next year. And then I am going to scrub my brain so I can get the mental image of my neighbors and the one-eyed monster out of my head!

MONSTER MASH!

Yeah baby! For the first time since we have been married Sugar Britches has agreed to let me have a costume party and he is even going to DRESS UP! I can't beleive it! You would have to know how quite and "old" my hubby is to appreciate the joy I am feeling! He's not really "old" he just acts it sometimes....me on the other hand...I am suddenly in my second childhood and I am loving it! I am going as a witch (I know...that's a stretch huh?!) and SB will be a Ancient Japanese Wise Man...Stepmonster is coming as a Leopard. Even my extended family is getting into this year! My brother is coming as Jason and his wife will be a dead cheerleader. We should be a sight let me tell you!
I have been looking for cool snacks to serve and I think I came up with some good ones......We will be having Monster Toes, and Broomsticks, along with Frankenstien Mix and Day Old Bathwater to drink! My neighbors are also helping with the party and it should be a blast! I need to finish cleaning up and go get the last of the supplies I need. I'll tell you all about the Party on Tuesday! Hope you all have a great Halloween!

Must see TV

tonight is "Must See TV" at the Memory Bay! Survivor....CSI....Without A Trace!!! It was so thoughtful of the CBS execs to put all my favorite shows on one night! *LOL* My only trouble with the line-up is that I also love to watch ER and that comes on at 10pm as well....so I usually tape it to watch on Friday night when nothing else is on! *G*

I am almost at the end of another busy week and I can't wait for Monday! Monday of all things! *LOL* I will only have to work 1/2 a day and then I will have a free night at home...this will be the first night that sugar britches and I will be home together in over 2 weeks! Makes for a happy marriage let me tall ya! *G*

In other exciting news...my cousin had a little boy last night....little meaning 8lbs 12ozs! *G* She was very nervous but everything seems to have gone great! She should be coming home tomorrow.

Well since it's almost 8pm I had better sign off and grab my favorite pillow and curl up for Survivor!

Have a good night ya'll!!

Be Careful What You Pray For...

or.....I suck as a parent! Take your pick on this one..... I feel horrible....

Ok,remember when I posted about stepmonster's new love...the neighbor?!?! Well I have been asking God to "take care of" that situation. Well "neighbor" is in the hospital tonight...and has been since Sunday! Seems he had testicular cancer a few years back (remember he is only 27) and apparantly he has some scar tissue which had caused a "kink" in his intestines. While they were giving him an X-ray to check on the blockage, they noticed 2 masses on his lungs. Evidently he was told when he had cancer before there was a very good possiblity that it could spread to his lungs and possibly his brain. I feel just awful!!! This was not what I meant about "taking care of the situation"!

So I am asking you guys to pray for him! I won't put his name out here in cyber space but God knows who you are talking about! Also please remember his family and the stepmonster...she is very upset over this. She has been to the hospital every day and just got home from sitting with his mom while "neighbor" was in surgery.

Thanks and God Bless!

I act like I am 27! *G*

You Are 27 Years Old
Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.
13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.
20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.
30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!
40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.
What Age Do You Act?

The Reviews are in!

For the most part they were all great! I have wonderful friends! *LOL* I think the highlight of the weekend would have to be ARMANZ...our German Massuese! He was purty! (that's southern for handsome! *G*) I loved his accent. The only bad thing about a deep tissue massage is that I was practically useless for the rest of the night! Oh well I have had worse problems *G*

I have another retreat planned for Feb. so I will begin working on it in a few weeks. I am taking all this week to re-organize my stash of supplies... I need to find more room for the retreat goodies. Sugar Britches hates everything looking so cluttered in here so I will make an effort to get it in better shape!

Well I am off to see what wonderful things I can get into this afternoon!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Today is the Day!

After looking through my long list from yesterday I can honestly say I got everything done....except....Clean the Bathroom! Now we really didn't think that would get done did we? *L* Poor Sugar Britches! He'll just have to do it himself!

My van is loaded down....I did leave enough room for me to drive but that's about it.....

I am looking forward to seeing old friends who have never been to one of my retreats as well as the new folks who will be there. I always get SUPER nervous until the reviews come in....speaking of that I haven't printed out the evaluation forms yet! Why didn't someone remind me? It wasn't on my list of things to do and I tell ya if I don't write it down it doesn't get done. I blame Splenda for my memory loss! *L*

Well, off to get some breackfast and then head out!

I'll let you know what the reviews were as soon as I get home!

Wish me luck!

Hope this works!

For some unknown reason my blog ate my last few entries! *G* They were wity, insightful, charming, and I am very sorry you missed them. *LOL*

Today is the last day I have to prepare for the Scrapbook Retreat I am hosting this weekend. I hope I can get all the last minute details completed. I also hope I can fit my clothes for the weekend somewhere in my van! No one wants to see a naked hostess...well not this naked hostess anyway! *LOL* Just so you will know how busy I will be today...here is my TO-DO LIST:

1. Finish Laundry...to take care of that whole naked hostess thing...
2. Clean Bathroom
3. Pack clothes
4. Organize My Scrap Supplies
5. Organize van so my supplies will fit in there!
6. Get my Yard Sale stuff together & priced
7. Pay bills..so I'll know how much I can spend this weekend! *G*
8. Balance Checkbook...and then cry because I won't be able to spend much!
9. Go to P.O.
10. Find a Fed Ex drop off place
11. Get my nails done...right now I look like my hands have been in a grater
12. Make out grocery list and go to store...don't won't family to starve while I am gone...and apparently stepmonster only knows where Groc. store is when SHE wants something!
13.Finish Door Prize Board
14. Create Seating Chart
15. Create Sleeping Chart
16. Cry when I don't get all of this done because I have spent too much time on the web this morning! *L*

Have a great weekend and remember no matter how bad things get..someone..... somewhere.... is having to clean sewers for a living!

When did I become the responsible one?

I just had a conversation w/ the stepmonster that I just didn't want to have....and had I been her I wouldn't have wanted to have it w/ my mom either! ever done that with your teenage child? Well she is no longer a teenager...she's 20! *G* Do you catch yourself saying things that you heard your mom say? Do you look behind you and wonder when your mom came in the room? Or is that just me?

where to begin....

Stepmonster can sometimes....most of the time...be convinced that I already know that she has done something before I really do...only parents may understand that one......anyway, she does tell me a lot more things than I EVER told or will EVER tell my own mother. Maybe it has something to do w/ me being the step-parent or maybe it's just that I harrass her until she spills her guts! *LOL* I say all that to say this....I WAS SHOCKED this morning by her appearance!!

She came into the livingroom this morning before she gets ready for church and asks me what I think of our young neighbor....????????

ME: "You mean our 28 yr old neighbor?...the one who lives w/ his parents next door?"

SM: "He's only 27!"

ME:...now noticing a mark on her neck....."You mean the same neighbor who gave you a HICKEY at the little neighborhood get-together last night?????"

SM: grabbing the TURTLE NECK she is wearing in 90 degree weather! "Uh...yeah....I know I told him I wasn't happy about that!"

ME:trying to stay calm and sounding incredibly stupid......"How did that happen?

SM: giving me a look to let me know she knows I am stupid! "We were just kissing and........."

AND?????

AND?????

My brain is jumping all over the place! I decide the best I can do at that moment is drop it and let her go finish getting ready for church....BTW, her idea to hide the evidence?....Keep in mind I didn't see this until she had walked around like this ALL DAY!!!!!!

a large make-up line from one ear to the other!

OH NO That won't make people notice the 2 large marks on your neck!!! No way will people catch on to that diabolical plan! You are a GENIUS!!!

Now I must say I like the neighbor..he seems like a nice enough guy...he drinks.... but for the most part he is pretty cool. That being said...my problem with this whole thing...besides his age....is.....

HE IS OUR NEIGHBOR!

What happens if this "romance" goes further? What happens if it doesn't? He is STILL our neighbor! Do you know what I mean? I can't look at him the same now! And my hubby....always the oblivious one....could only muster up..."Is there anything on your neck I need to see?" After I asked him if he noticed anything! In his defense he has worked the last 3 nights so he hasn't had much sleep....but still! I am sure he may have more questions tomorrow after he has had some sleep...I HOPE he has more questions after he has had some sleep! *LOL* I wonder how he will feel about the neighbor now? I mean they are always doing things out in the yard together!

When I tried talking to SM this evening all I got was an attitude! She doesn't understand why she can't just "get to know him better"! Well dear there is nothing wrong w/ getting to know him better!!! Should have tried that before he played VAMPIRE ON YOUR NECK!!!! When I try to explain to her that she allowed herself to get into a very sticky situation very quickly..she didn't want to hear it! When I tried to explain to her that she put me & her dad in a bad spot...she didn't want to talk anymore.....when I shut up she stomped down the hall and then stomped back up the hall and out the door to go to the neighbors house!!!!!

What to do...What to do!! I can't ground her...she is 20 for goodness sake! I can't ground him! I can't tell him to not see her...Can I? I just see this ending badly....I see it causing trouble w/ the neighbors

If you have any advice for me I would sure appreciate it!

TODAY ROCKED!!! And Rocked HARD!!! *LOL*

For a few months now I had been planning to take my stepmom (AKA Partner in crime PIC for short) to see Menopause the Musical for her birthday. Well her birthday is Monday so we decided to go to the maitinee today. It was such a blast! The Musical is about 4 women who meet at a sale at Bloomingdale's. They start talking and singing about diferent things dealing w/ menopause. I laughed til I cried! I must say the highlight of the performance was when they were talking about the woman from Iowa who wanted more sex than hubby could handle. The other ladies told her that she could...how shall I put this delicately?.....She could use "other means" to satisfy those urges. But the kicker was the song they did a parody of to tell her all about it...are you ready?

"GOOD VIBRATIONS!!!!

I about peed myself!!! I am watching this w/ PIC, my MIL, and my SIL!!! We are howling laughing as the IOWA woman comes back onstage with a PINK microphone...that looks suspiciously like something else.... and sings lovingly to it! And then when she thinks about it she asks about her hubby and won't she miss the love?....then the Black Lady comes out dressed as Tina Turner and sings "What's Love Got to do With It!" By this time...tears are streaming down all our faces.
I'm telling you...if you get the chance to go...PLEASE DO!! You won't be disappointed! Oh and if you go....give me a call..I'd love to see it again!! *LOL*

Grown Up Dinner Party

Well since I promised some of you an entry about my first ever "Grown Up" Dinner Party...here goes.

Rita and I decided to have a dinner party and invite 2 couples whom (or is it who? I never get that right....) we do not know that well. We (translation...Rita) decided to have it at my place. Now, I am sure I have told most everyone I know that I have psycho dogs (Buffy & Bodie).....they are great but bark like crazy when we have company over. I thought the best thing to do would be to grill and enjoy the beautiful weather on the "veranda" (translation...DECK) so that they would not be able to jump all over the guests.
First let me say that I had a very busy day Sat. I went to Jennifer's store for a Swap/Shop day and I had a blast! If you are interested in cool scrapbook supplies you should check out her website www.photoscrapic.com Ok...commercial over! *LOL* Anyway, once I left there I had to rush home to finish cleaning...luckily step-monster took some initiative and started cleaning before I got there so it was basically straighten and finishing touches.
Rita is great about decorating for any occasion, so we set up 2 tables w/ candles and fall flowers beside the pond "Sugar Britches" recently put in for me. It was lovely except it gave everyone a great view of our other dog Dusty. He doesn't like company either! He only barked non-stop for about 1/2 the evening so I guess it worked out ok! *LOL*
Our menu for the evening was Grilled Chicken w/ Baked Potato, grilled veggies and Salad. We also had Apple Cobbler and Vanilla Icecream for dessert....nothing more American than that right? "Sugar Britches" is an excellent griller but after the little discussion (translation....ARGUMENT) we had Friday night I was not entirely sure he would even be there! So I decided to do a lemon pepper marinade for the chicken and prepare the grilled veggies ahead of time...just in case I had to man the grill as well. This did not sit well with "SB" but he adjusted and went with it! *L* Just as we finished setting everything up our guests arrived. I had each one fill out a little questionaire about themselves and after dinner we played "Guess Who" I thought this would be a good way to get to know everyone a little better and it was! Like I didn't know "SB" thought our first date was at a CLUB! We actually went to dinner and a movie! *L* Anyway, everyone seemed to love the food and the company so I guess it was a success! Rita has now started planning our next soiree (sp?) so stayed tuned for further updates!

The Gulf

I have so many mixed emotions about the situtation in the gulf. I do feel for those people! I can not imagine losing everything I own. And living paycheck to paycheck like we do I can totally understand how some would not be able to get out of the city...and please don't think I am a cold heartless %#@&*....but why didn't they heed the warnings more? I got the message and I live several states away...it was on the news for days! BIG BAD STORM...GET OUT! I can also understand their frustation and heartbreak over those who had to stay and have been without food and water for several days....but....why are they stealing weapons, tv's, and other big ticket items? Even during the first day of the storm there were some people who were stealing...just because they could! I mean we didn't see that kind of thing when 9/11 happened! In NYC arguably the toughest/meanest city in the world...you just didn't see the kind of thing like we see in New Orleans! Now I know not everyone was looting for monetary gain...some were just hungry...and I know there will be wonderful stories to eventually come out of good samaritans who have helped those in need....there already are...
Do I think the government did all they could in the beginning? I'm not sure....the niave part of me wants to say that they couldn't get through..it was too dangerous...but then the intellegent part of me remembers that I wouldn't be seeing the devastation if reporters weren't getting through! I also agree with several people I saw on the news when they were asking how we could help soooo many other countries but we weren't helping our own people! I wonder that too! I have wondered that for a long time! Every Sunday morning when I see those infomercials about starving children in W.V. and other states I just want to scream! I am not saying everyone in America should be driving a Rolls Royce and living in a Mansion...but in this country...NO CHILD SHOULD BE GOING HUNGRY like that! I pray for those people I really do! I want the Lord to bless them w/ safety, food, water, comfort and mostly peace! I also pray for the poor doctors, police & firemen, and the rescue workers! They must just be exhausted! yet they keep on helping! Why can't the people see that there are SOME people who are helping and try to be as patient as they possibly can?
Oh and one more thing that I saw on the news that really just mad me beyond ANGRY! Some guy had the NERVE to say the reason that more help was not getting to New Orleans was because the population is mostly black! WHAT? Are they NUTS?!?!?! I am soooooo beyond sick of hearing how everyone is after the black man and he just can't get ahead! I do believe there is discrimination in the world...I do....but sometimes, you didn't get that job because you weren't qualified...sometimes you don't have money because you are on drugs...sometimes it's just bad decisions on your part...not some HUGE conspiracy against black people! The same goes for white people!
OK I am sorry I went on this long vent...usually I am such an upbeat person! Please, Please, Please give to the charity of your choice to help ALL the victims in the tragedy! And please pray for Mercy, Strength, Guidance, and Patience for the victims, the rescuers, our government and those who are doing their best to help in anyway they can!

N...O...NO!

Niet, Nine, NO!! See I can say (even if I can't spell! *L*)it in 3 different languages! Why can't I tell people NO? Yesterday was a lousy day.. so much so that I started this post yesterday but couldn't get back to it because I had to stop several times to do something for someone! I am hoping that since Sugar Britches goes back to work tonight (he'll sleep all day), I am off work, and stepdaughter will be at work that I can have a little time to myself! I am going to clean house and read the 2nd Harry Potter book...yes I am an adult but I love the movies...thought it was time I read the books! *L*

What a week!...You have my permission to stop reading now!!

Has it really been a week since I posted? I should say has it JUST been a week since I posted! This last week has felt like 8 days at least! *L* Let me just list the events of the week for you.....

Sunday - BIL sits down to eat breakfast and somehow hurts his back! Can't walk...has to go to URGENT CARE to get something for pain!

Tuesday - Same family...their dog gets hits by a car and has to have surgery on it's leg.

Wednesday - SAME FAMILY!! SIL goes in for a hysterectomy! I am telling you...if their truck had died I would think they were living a Country Song!!*LOL*

Friday - Brother calls and says something like this "You don't have an extra $600 laying around do you?" Why yes I do! And I can't get it to do ANYTHING! *GEEZ* well turns out he is joking but goes on to tell me he needs it to pay for the Gastric Bypass he wants to have!....oh it gets better!....as I am hanging up the phone..my cell phone rings and it's my mother...

MOM-" I need a favor"
ME - "Ok.... Shoot"
MOM - " I need to borrow $300! I have made some kind of mistake in my checkbook and my Life Ins. check bounced and I need to get some money in the bank by 2pm"
ME - looking at watch..."Do you realize it's 12:30 now? Even if I had that laying around w/ the $600 your son needs I couldn't get it to you by then!"
MOM - Very serious..."well when can you get it?" Now I should fill you guys in on my mother....but really I just don't think you have the time this go round....I'll try to fill you in later.

While all this is going on I am having to attend meetings every night...no seeing hubby (who will be known from here on out as "Sugar Britches"...because I am from a small southern town where this is considered a term of affection...and it embarrasses him to no end! Glad he'll never read this! *LOL)
Anyway, back to my boring story...All week meetings...one family crisis after another...dear old lady from church passed away...and then the highlight of my week...

I MET DONNA DOWNEY!! Now those of you who don't scrapbook will have no idea who this is...well maybe you do...she is brilliant after all! *L* I am not one of these people who just falls all over Scrapbook "Celebrities"..let's face it, outside of the scrapbook world they aren't that famous...nothing personal..just the truth! But, I thought Donna was a "hoot" and I loved gossiping with her over lunch! She would soo fit in with my friends anytime! I won't even hold the fact that she is a Yankee against her! At least she finally wised up and moved to God's country! *LOL* She came to my Local Scrapbook Store (LSS for short) and signed her books and taught us a little project from one of them. It was a nice way to spend an afternoon.

And then....back to reality...I have to leave the fun and drive 45 miles to help clean up after the funeral (of sweet old lady mentioned above) and then I went w/ my Stepmom to visit another lady from the church who just got out of the hospital (If you are looking for my halo, it's hanging from one of my horns! *G*) The whole time...well maybe not the WHOLE time...but for a good 20 mins of the visit all I can think is.."Big Brother starts at 8...it's now 7:15...it takes 25 mins to get home from here...I need to stop and get gas because the gas light came on 10 miles back....ok so if I leave now...I'll get home in time" Well, I politely hug dear lady...tell her I hope she is feeling better and try to leave quickly...this is impossible! I know this!! I am after all from a small town full of "sweet older ladies" who can never just let you say goodbye and leave...this is not the southern way! We must walk slowly to the front yard, and talk another 15 mins. about what we would like to do to our yards, how the service went last week, what we have planned for tomorrow...you get the idea! I nearly burn rubber peeling out of her driveway, race to gas station, get $10 in gas because $15 would take too long! and then hustle home! I came screeching into the house right as Julie Chen was telling the HOH that it was a double elimination week! BE STILL MY HEART! *LOL* *SIDE NOTE* OK so I know I am pathetic and have no life...I mean really, who rushes home to see this garbage....but you have spent the last 10 mins reading about my life so who is the biggest loser??!! *LOL*

So tomorrow starts another busy week...I am scheduling some face time w/ Sugar Britches for Friday...that will be the next time we may actually be in the same place at the same time! Wish me luck!

Sunday, August 14, 2005

AAAAhhhhh.....

I can finally breathe! *L* All week we have been planning on hubby's family visiting from Tenn. You would never meet nicer people! I love them! But the week leading up to their visit has been crazy! We cleaned liked maniacs...I even got "MOST" of my scrap area cleaned...what was left to sort is now in stacks on my counter, that is a huge accomplishment! *L* Once they left I did a quick clean up and then went w/ my SIL to look at furniture. After all that I came home and just crashed!

I was so ready for a quiet night at home when.... around 10:30 tonight my neighbor "Ed" decided to come by for a visit! He is so funny..but he is a drinker...like most of my neighbors *G* He's a funny drunk though so I don't really worry about him hanging out. Hubby was outside working on his daughter's car with one of our other neighbors...after they finished the car they all wanted to take hubby out to shoot pool. I have no trouble w/ that as long as one of them is the designated driver! Of course after seeing the neighbors..hubby was declared the driver! *L* I told them to have fun but to remember I didn't have bail money! This seem to crack them up and off they went! Now I am heading to the shower and hoping to get back to my book. If you see 4 guys in a teal Gran Am tonight tell them that I said to come home! *L*

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!!

Where is FlyLady when I need her? *LOL*

For those of you who do not scrapbook this entry may not make sense at all! *G*

I have been working on cleaning out my scrapbook area off and on all week. Ok so mostly off but I have made a dent! While I have been sorting and organizing I have come to a shocking conclusion. I have spent A LOT of money on my hobby! I know that most of this stuff I will eventually use but do I really need 10 sheets of ocean paper? How about 5 different tape runners? *L* And since I have put most of my paper in the Cropper Hopper Vertical Storage Bins, I have several wire cubes I will no longer use! *SIGH* What will I do with all this EXTRA STUFF now you ask? I'm not sure! I do have a retreat coming up in Sept. and I can put this stuff on the Yard Sale table...but if it doesn't sell do I want to carry it back home? *L* These are the randoms thoughts that run through my head! I just had a great idea! A teacher friend of mine uses scrapbooking to help her children w/ there writing skills! I can donate what doesn't sell to her!! BRILLIANT!!!! *LOL* I knew writing these random thoughts down would help me sort them through! Now to just finish putting everything back in it's place!
Hopefully I'll be back on tonight w/ a more interesting entry! :-)

Whiney Wednesday!

Ok so I don't really have anything to whine about this week...well....maybe I can come up with something! *L* This not really a whine, but Hubby's family is coming in to visit this weekend and hubby has decided that our house is too disgusting for human beings so we have been cleaning, organizing and rearranging all week! *L* Although he is a Clean Freak....I can usually keep him under control...not this week! We have really just been doing a major spring cleaning around here...probably should have been done a long time ago. So after I finish reading emails.....(I have been given a 30 min break for lunch)....I am to work on my scrap mess...I mean scrap area!

Anybody got a shovel? *LOL*

CK convention..fun, friends,fantastic prizes! *L*

Well I don't know about the fantastic prizes part but I did have fun hanging w/ my friends! I must admit that I was a bit of a party pooper though Friday night....I blame it on Thurs.! *G* let me explain...

Thursday at work I had to finish up 2 projects...took some doing but got it done...came home long enough to say "hey" to hubby, grab my scrapbook supplies and head to my LSS. After fighting traffic I get there at 4:40pm. I work on a card that I wanted to submit for a contest at the CK convention. I help the owner get set up for a Scrapworks Demo and then stay for the Demo...we go out to eat supper at 10:30pm! I head home....I get home, get settled, finish packing and lay down. Hubby comes in and wants to chat! Knowing I won't see him for a few days I decide to talk for a few minutes. By this time it is 12:30 and I have to get up at 5am!! I wake up at 2am!! I mean WIDE AWAKE!!! Can't go back to sleep AWAKE!!!! I try reading a book, playing online, everything..nothing works until 4:30 am when I suddenly get REAL sleepy! Can't go to sleep now..it's almost time to get up! So I get a shower, pack the car up and head out to Charlotte! After stopping for Breakfast we get there at 8am just in time to volunteer for 4 1/2 hrs. at the registration booth! After that, grab a quick lunch, and head to a class (review of classes will come at a later date) and then shopping until we meet up with friends at 6 for dinner and drinks! By 8:30pm it is all I can do to crawl into the elevator to get to my room! I am asleep by 10:30! I just can't run w/ the big dogs anymore!

Saturday was almost as busy with classes and shopping. I did get to see quite a few of my scrapping buddies... (Amy, Heather, Debbie, Anne, Julie, Libby, just to name a few) I only wished I had had more time to just visit with you guys! I got some cute things and made a couple of little projects. We got home around 6pm and after loading the washing machine and unloading all my new goodies I crashed! Can't wait to do it all again next year!

MeMe

Saw this on other blogs and thought I would try it here....you can answer in the comments section or post a link to your blog so I can read it! *L*

1. Name a television theme song that describes you.
After checking out a few sites for Theme Songs... I think I came up with...
That 70s Show

Hangin' out
Down the street
The same old thing
We did last week.

Not a thing to do
But talk to you
Whoa...yeah.

Hello Wisconsin!

2. Are you more Katie, Matt, Ann, or Al?
I'd say Katie because it has been pointed out to me she likes to be the center of attention and well....so do I! *L* Also she seems to be a warm and friendly person and I would like to think I am too!

3. What type of house pet would you be?
Oh...my dogs have it made!! I would probably be Buffy though...she rules the house and doesn't take any lip from the other dogs or us! *LOL*
4. Most embarrassing moment.
hhmmm...there are so many to choose from I will have to get back to you on that one!
5. The age old first of school question: What did you do over summer vacation
I went to the beach for Bike Week....cleaned house...worked on my scrapbooks....cleaned house...dreamed of going to WDW....worked on my diet!

Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!
